Thinking big bouquet and things

Hi All,
Hope you are all just fine :)

As for me, I am trying my luck in making flowers.
Fiddling about with paper and paint.
Picture a big bouquet. Like in an old painting.
Fresh flowers but also dead ones.
That's the idea. No idea if I will succeed in that but it never hurts to try.

This is what I've done so far; made some dead/nearly dead roses. it still needs a lot of work, I want to add thorns as well as some buds. The leaves look far too alive, too.
Not nearly finished!

Maybe I was somewhat overenthousiastic with the idea, 'cos here you can see some
kits I've ordered and still have to make.
As you can see I have my work cut out for me ;).

Also purchased some new silks in the UK.
I love the greens, though I don't have a clue yet what I am going to use them for,
But well, it is always nice to have several options open.

It just came to mind that I can't recall telling you about the fair in Ulf my daughter and I
attended.
Should have made pictures of the minis I dragged home but totally forgot to make them.
Never mind, it eventually will come across in several posts, it's no secret and if it was, can't keep a secret anywayz ;)

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and take care of yourself

Untill we meet again,
big hug,
Gee

      Groetjes,
      Gee

    1. Hi AM!
Thanks for your nice comment, yep there is still a lot of work to do on those flowers. Elizabeth's blog got me going on that.
To tell you the truth, I did not quite realize on forehand the amount of work making flowers take.
But, when I get bored with it I'll probably switch to doing something else ;)
      Hugs,
      Gee

  5. Hi Gee
Your flowers are superb!!! I find it so hard to find realistic flowers and floral arrangements in mini. These are outstanding!
    Have a great weekend

    1. Hi Simon!
Thanks for your very nice comment. And yes, you are so right, it IS hard to find realistic flowers. In the past I have bought some made from Fimo, paper, silk and vellum.
Most of them, especially the paper and Fimo ones, look so stiff.
I have to say, however, I saw flowers Carla Zandvliet made of vellum and they look very good. But I met her on a fair and she does not have a website.
Elizabeth made paper flowers that look really good.see her blog http://studioeminiatures.blogspot.nl/2016/01/the-subject-was-roses.html
I will take my fimo flowers later and see if I can make anything out of it (maybe in a dark corner somewhere.
However, now I do understand why the flowers that are out there seem to be so stiff and all the same.
It takes a lot of time to make flowers a bit more realistic looking, they would get way too expensive.
Anywayz, did you do anything mini lately? Looking forward to reading a new blogpost from you!
      Take care & hugs,
      Gee

Prachtige kleuren trouwens.

  8. Hi Gee! I LOVE your roses and making some to look faded and "nearly dead", makes them even MORE intriguing! :D I once saw a posting of a miniature artist who made a dying geranium in a pot. It was sooo Clever and such an unexpected departure, even though we see it happen in Real Life all of the time, so keep on doing what your doing! :D
Your photo of your layers of silks makes me envious. I love the range of colors and that they all seem to effortlessly go together. I can see that we are in for more visual treats as you put those silks to work!
    And I Can't wait!!! :D

  9. Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for your sweet comment! Your roses got me in the mood for doing something involving flowers,
but the amount of roses you made would drive me nuts.
Making roses is far more work than you'd consider just looking at them :).
Th silks... you know I would never see myself as a silk addict but apparantly I am just that; I can't bring myself to cutting the fabric; yet, but I'm working on that ;)
    Hugs,
    Gee

  10. I know just what you mean about hating to bite into the fabric with the scissors Gee. I have some vintage linen handkerchiefs that I use for some of my projects and it just kills me every time I start cutting! :(
